Located in Delaware County, New York this art studio for a painter and printmaker is attached to a renovated farmhouse at the foot of Pakatakan Mountain. Built with conventional wood framing, the simple form of the structure allows for a large painting area on the ground level with a printing studio above on an open loft. Over-insulation and south-facing windows in the loft area reduce the fall and winter heating requirements substantially, allowing a small woodstove to comfortably heat the entire space. High windows on all four facades create balanced light inside while leaving large wall areas for pin-up and display space.
